ENROLMENT

ELIGIBILITY TO ENROL

Your child must be 3 years of age by commencement of Playschool. (We can accept children 2 weeks prior to their 3rd birthday on the condition that an adult remains on the premises at all times with your child.) It is important that children are toilet trained before commencing playschool. If this is a problem, please speak to the Playschool staff.

Enrolment can take place at any time throughout the year, and it is fine to start part-way during the year, and/or part-way during a term. However, where possible it is best to start Playschool at the beginning of a term. Children are generally enrolled for the year, or for the remainder of the year if the child has started part-way through the year.

You are welcome and encouraged to come and visit the relevant Playschool prior to enrolment, or prior to your child commencing. Please contact our Playschools to arrange a visit (click here for contact details). You can also spend time with your child at your child’s first few Playschool sessions if you feel this would assist them in settling in. In November of each year parents/carers are invited to attend an information night at which time the operation of the playschool for the following year is discussed.

  1. Click here to access the enrolment form online, or contact our Playschools to obtain a hard copy of the enrolment form (click here for contact details).

This can be a copy of the immunisation record contained in your child’s personal health record (known as the ‘Blue Book’ in the ACT) or a copy of the immunisation history statement from Medicare. If you have chosen for your child to not be immunised, please attach a letter stating that your child has not undergone immunisation.

SELECTION

For children turning 3 by the beginning of February each year, acceptance into Playschool occurs in order of receipt of the initial enrolment form. Subsequent enrolments are subject to availability of positions. Once we have received your enrolment form, the following will happen:

1.    If the session/s in which you wish to enrol are currently full, we will advise you that the session is currently full and advise you of other available sessions or place your child’s name on the waiting list.

2.    If the session/s in which you wish to enrol have a vacancy, we will confirm your enrolment either at the time you have submitted your enrolment form (if you have dropped it off in person), or shortly afterwards, usually via a phone call.

3.    Once your enrolment is confirmed, you will be provided with further information prior to your child’s first day.

WAITING LISTS

Once all available places have been filled, children will be placed on a waiting list. When a vacancy occurs, places will be allocated according to position on the list. Parents will be kept informed of all positions available within the Tuggeranong Link Playschool network. If enough interest/demand is generated an additional session may be created at our Gilmore Playschool.
